Explore the grove hidden beyond the Literacy Garden

  • Modeled the structure after the design of a real acorn
  • Painted with bright, neon colors for high visibility and perception
  • Built with sturdy, eco-friendly materials, ensuring safety and sustainability

Challenge

We were contacted to create a unique addition for the Mississippi Children’s Museum in Jackson, Florida. We had previously created some items for their Literacy Garden and they were looking for one more piece for their garden. The garden included giant, interactive mushrooms, musical pylons and flower shaped tables. We needed to create a piece that would add just a touch more color and awe.

Solution

Nestled within a hidden grove of trees, we introduce our newest creation: a brightly colored acorn, vibrant and full of wonder, waiting to be discovered. We crafted this acorn replica from glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), a material so strong and versatile that is also known as smart-crete. It’s environmentally friendly and resistant to fire.

Result

Families visiting the Literacy Garden will now have an exciting time finding this hidden gem. It makes the perfect photo op. Children will have a blast with all the museum has to offer.
