Nature-Themed Pieces Adds to Kid-Approved Expansion

  • Designed a playground that integrates seamlessly with the woodland setting
  • Crafted play equipment using realistic textures that mimic logs & trees
  • Engineered custom structures with durable materials that stand up to the elements

Challenge

The mission for the Garden Space at Denver Hospice is to give visitors the feeling of peace in a relaxing nature themed setting. When it was time to plan for the available space, a more traditional design -with bright primary colors and metal bars - wasn’t going to work. They wanted something more natural looking, yet still fun.

Solution

Our team crafted a realistic looking log and tree stumps for kids to sit and jump on. These nature themed pieces will stand up for years to the rigors of climbing and harsh climate. We used super-tough glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) in the creation, which allowed our artists to construct textured pieces that mimic the look and feel of trees. The material is also fire resistant and low maintenance, making it an ideal choice for the natural setting.

Result

The simple design is perfect for kids of all ages to enjoy and allow the pieces to blend in perfectly. The smooth bark texture provides a safe place for kids to move, climb, jump, and play.
