Challenge

The director of the Aldrich School in Rochester contacted us requesting a tortoise sculpture. Their school promotes hands-on learning and encourages imagination; our kind of learning! Our design team needed to create a sculpture that would fit the bill.

Solution

To meet the customer's request, we needed to make something that could resist time, weather, and a beating. The tortoise was made with glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) and filled to add weight and strength. This material is durable, long-lasting, and earth friendly.

Result

Blending in seamlessly, the new tortoise sculpture is sure to fit right in with the crowd. Kids love to play, and this piece is great for little ones to climb or sit atop. Recess will certainly be a blast and teachers will love the low maintenance this piece requires. It is truly a piece for everyone to enjoy.
